The question has been posed to me many times: “Where do you come into the process?” or “Who do I call first for this remodeling project…Remodeler, Architect, Residential Designer?”
Obviously, you already have a need (no matter what it is) and you have an idea (even if it is sketchy). Your next step is to form a limit of what you want to invest in this project…in terms of dollars. Most people will reply, “But I don’t know how much it is going to cost!” That’s understandable, and neither do I, but we can look at it together.

It is hard to keep ourselves to the minimum, especially when adding upgrading our space (you could replace “space” with “comfort level”). We all want more, and that’s not wrong. However, I’ve been seeing several articles recently on how to keep your renovation on task with your financial investment goals. Some of the suggestions work: put in sweat equity, reduce scope, etc., but the question comes in–where should you do the DIY, and where should you cut?

My wife has been pursuing the idea of all-white rooms, and many of them have been transformed that way. I must admit that I was skeptical, especially when she mentioned all white floors. The floors have not been transformed yet.
However, I must say, in my decor-surfing tonight, I came across this post at Door Sixteen that gives a virtual gallery of white floors, and I like the way it looks! It is exciting how the decor that was used really jumps off the wall when there’s no distraction of color or wallpaper. Yes, honey, white floors do look good-you’ve got a good eye!
Now, here’s the bonus. A step-by-step primer on painting your linoleum floor…of all colors…white!
