This new offering is the American Fantasy Makeover.  Ok, it really isn’t new, we’ve been doing these for about a year, but now that it is out in the printed media, we’d like to repeat the opportunity for homeowners can see what their room can look like.

Because of technology, it is possible to remotely model and design your home, and show a client what could be.  The rules to the Makeover are simple:

• There is nothing to buy
• The goal is to have fun

It is important to remember that this is a Fantasy Makeover for a two reasons.  First, we do not qualify the dollar figures attached to the project, and, second, it is not structurally qualified.  Because we are limited to one room, we haven’t had the chance to ascertain the existing structure of the house.

Here’s what you can expect from the American Fantasy Makeover:

• The remodeling ideas will be in relation to your project
• This can be done remotely – we do this almost every day
• You will need to sketch and measure the layout of your room
• Send some digital pictures from all angles of the room
• We will model the layout in 3D and draw a new design that could work
• We will make a one hour presentation to you online (you’ll need access to high-speed internet and a phone)
• This presentation will not qualify the financial investment range of the project
• We will work to bring a quality local contractor to the conversation who is qualified to talk about the financial investment
• We can make changes during that meeting – on the fly
  
• Have fun!

However, since it is a “Fantasy” makeover, we were not qualifying the cost of the project.  Typically,  during a project, we know that homeowners want to control costs as well, and we can qualify the cost of a project by working closely with the contractor.

During the American Fantasy Makeover, we recorded the presentation and obtained their permission to share this feedback with you.

The issues are that there is a large brick face presenting to the road.  The house looks long (horizontally) and dark.  So, Mr & Mrs. Homeowner would like to see something that takes the curse off of horizontal.

These are computer generated renderings of the Fantasy Makeover.  The owners have the option to move forward with this project, or not.

The homeowners, as well as their friends and family had the opportunity to see options and alternatives to this design.  Ultimately, the owners finished with this version.

American Fantasy Makeover can be seen as a cross between American Idol and Extreme Makeover:Home Edition.  The first “Makeover” was this past Monday evening, and it was a great success.

Now, there were two rules to this social, 1) We MUST have fun, and 2) there is NOTHING to buy–it’s only a fantasy.  But we had fun, and the owners had fun, and the other attendees had fun!  While we were working on this homeowner’s dining/living room, one friend asked if we “do kitchens too.” We certainly do! We are planning to search for almost every room in the house during the course of a year with a different homeowner each month, to pretend what could be if their dreams were realized. The input from each person was great, and could be used if the homeowner desired to actually start a remodeling project for this room.

I’ll be posting more information, including renderings, links, and possibly a video including some testimonials shortly next week.

Right now, we have the next several rooms and geographic areas mapped out for different “fantasies.”  The greater Boston and Indianapolis areas are first on the list.  If you or someone you know would like to fantasize about a room in your home, in your geographic area, let us know your name, room area (one room only, please), and geographic area.  THEN, tell your friends & neighbors to vote for your area as well.  Geography will be considered by the number of requests we receive.
